The tragedy “Boris Godunov” is one of Alexander Pushkin’s greatest works. He explores the nature of power, and the role of the people as a decisive force in historical events, demonstrating that committing crimes for the sake of the throne leads to personal and national tragedy.

Robert Clarke’s translation seems to be most readable and easy flowing.
