Russian Book Club: Gogol. The Government Inspector

Nikolai Gogol’s The Government Inspector (in some translations The Inspector General) is a satirical comedy in five acts in which the author exposes the vices of Russian society in the 19th century. Nevertheless, the themes raised are universal, and today the play sounds relevant. This work became one of the key works in Russian literature and had a significant impact on its development.
